The Tver Region is the largest pearl among all the Regions of Central Russia. The territory of the Tver Region of 84,1 thousand square kilometers is equal to the territories of Moscow, Tula and Ivanovo Regions. It is situated in the North-Western part of European Russia between the two capital cities of Moscow and St.Petersburg and its history runs back to several centuries. Rich forests, lakes, rivers, natural resources, highly developed industries and agriculture attract many foreigners to come over there for investment.
The Region of Tver is famous for the three large European rivers - Volga, Dnieper and Zapadnaya Dvina which start here. Many outstanding scientists, writers and artists were born in this land. The climate of the Tver Region is moderate continental with cool summer and mild winter. In statistical estimation the population of the region is 1,6 million people, living in 23 settlements and 8941 villages.

City of Tver was founded in 1138 and is situated a little more than a hundred and fifty kilometers away from Moscow. It takes about 2.0 to 2.5 hours to get here from Moscow International Airport, and it is a 5.0 hour trip to St.Petersburg.

City of Tver has a leading role in the history of the Russian state. The outstanding historians like Prince Mikhail Tverskoy, traveler Afanasy Nikitin, architects M.Kosakov, K.Rossi, poets and writers A.Pushikin, L.Krylov, F.Dostoevsky, M.Saltykov-Shedrin and many scientists, well-known & respected persons, and Generals hailed from this city of Tver.

Today City of Tver is a large industrial and cultural center with a population of half a million people. There are many enterprises and factories situated in this city. They manufacture heavy machinery such as excavators, electrical equipment, train cars, construction materials and many other things in addition to synthetic and cotton fibers being produced by many factories located here.

This city has three theaters, a philharmonic hall and other facilities for public entertainment.

Many libraries, museums, music and art colleges, cultural and other educational institutions provide necessary conditions for students from all over the world. The wonderful natural climate and the quiet way of life attract many students from different parts of the globe to come here for studies.

There are four institutions of higher learning, including the Tver State Technical University.
